The UK Government now confirmed that it accepts recommendations from MAC the changes to Tier 2 UK Work Permit (Migration Advisory Committee) on shortage occupation list. The Government also abolished specialist jobs which are not needed in the United Kingdom under Tier 2 UK Work Permit t. The UK Government will now accept those Tier 2 Work Permit application where there is real dearth of workers. We would like to highlight for the benefit of our readers and clients that the shortage occupation is now integral component of the UK Work Permit under the points based system. The requirements under the Tier 2 work permit must be fulfilled by the migrants who are applying from non EEA and willing to be work permit holder under the category. The Government has also given clear indication to the employers how to employer Tier 2 Work Permit employees. If the job is listed in the Shortage occupation list the employers may apply complying with immigration requirements and the employees have to pass a resident labour market test.
Occupations that the MAC recommended be removed from the list include:
- secondary education biology teachers;
- speech and language therapists;
- pharmacists;
- orthoptists;
- veterinary surgeons; and,
- rank and file orchestral musicians.
Added to the list will be:
- actuaries;
- high integrity pipe welders;
- environmental scientists; and,
- geochemists
